Hallelujah! Christmas Lullaby
Background
This song was initially written for guitar and voice, but even during the writing process I could imagine it being sung by a 4-part choir. My good friend and keyboardist, arranger and choral director, Rick Drake, offered to write the vocal parts. Rick also wrote and performed the accompaniment, then recruited and rehearsed a group of skilled college singers for a recording session. Keith Kopatz gifted the project with studio time at the renowned (and soon to be demolished) “Runway Studios”, formerly “Flyte Tyme Studios”, in Minneapolis. I flew in for the final rehearsal and the recording session. Keith engineered the session and the young singers performed beautifully. [Personal note: it is satisfying to know that the name of the Lord was lifted high in that famous studio just prior to its destruction. And, this song of praise cannot be quenched as it still rings true.]
